Specialist Lecture

This is what we do and this is how it's different than the way everyone else does it.

We have more advanced training in smile designs and rehabs than anyone in the area except for one other dentist in Northern Florida and Southern Georgia, but its not just about the training. Anyone that cares enough can pay the money to learn about cosmetics. It makes you wonder why more of the so called cosmetic dentists in the country don't take more CE if they want to do it in their practices. We are seeing a trend that is more of an easy to do thing rather than what's best for the patient thing. Dentists are making teeth look like veneers. Not to say anything bad about our local labs, but they don't care enough to pay the money to learn about cosmetics either. It's double bad. We have uneducated dentists sending veneers to labs who are uneducated. The results are not as good, unfortunately they can get by with the uneducated public.

Our best client is the one who does their research. We want our guests to be informed so that they realize our education and experience is second to none and they are going to appreciate what we do. The other thing you get is dentists with no experience sending their cases to labs in California because they think a lab there has more knowledge in cosmetics for example MAC. In most cases they are right; however the dentists are preparing the teeth incorrectly so that they are most time over prepared because they don't understand the limitations of press able ceramics. Once a tooth is over prepared we can never make it look quite as natural as a virgin tooth. The third thing you get is an experienced dentist who has some education sending their work to a lab in California who is also experienced. What they don't understand is that it is not the lab that is making the veneers it is the ceramist.

A lab like MAC can honestly have hundreds of ceramists working on cases. The best ceramists in the country get well over 500,000 a year for what they do. There are not that may exceptional ceramists, and if you can imagine, there are much more dentists sending in veneer cases than a master ceramist can handle. Master ceramists charge more because they can and they are selective with whom they work with. Ask dentists who their lab is and they can all tell you. Ask them who their ceramist is and most likely they have no idea. Our ceramist is Rob Maata. He does the veneers for Dr. David Hornbrook and other exceptional leaders in the profession and he does ours. Colleen and I are cosmetic dentists in the United States right now. We are doing some major stuff to get involved and be future leaders. Veneers are our passion it is something we never let up on. I think about all the time to make them better. We get very frustrated when dentists with no training cut teeth down to little stumps to do veneers and dentists who do not know how to do natural looking veneers on their own do cerinates which may pass the most uneducated patients eyes as being expectable, but in no way advances our art to making better veneers. Colleen and I took the education have the experience doing them every way, and settled with Rob, because he has the skill which complements our artistry in the office and we are truly lucky.
